i'm thinking about Valentines Day and love and hearts and it occurred to me that love is so curious. It can encompass so many feelings. It can take so many forms. As soon as you think you know what it is, it pops up unexpectedly in another package. I think we should just appreciate it however it shows up and we should definitely spread it around a little more, don't you think?
so that made curious... do monsters fall in love? do weird things appreciate the sentiment of Valentine's Day? Surely they must.

As luck would have it, i had just acquired a stack of reproductions of antique 'weird ocean life' artwork. Why i decided to start cutting those up and making ocean monsters expressing love is one of those things about being an artist that i don't question anymore... i just follow where the creativity leads me.

i had an absolute blast creating these.

Each is the perfect "valentine" size - to give to your favorite monster/wierdo/person of interest, or to frame and put it where you can look at it and smile.
